(0:00 - 0:21)
Are you foggy right now? Mentally tired? Emotionally stretched and can't focus? It's not laziness. You're overloaded. Is it any wonder? Deadlines? Expectations? And because you're generous, you're probably trying to meet everybody else's needs.
(0:22 - 3:13)
And yet, in the middle of all of that, you're supposed to magically know what's next? Truth? Clarity doesn't vanish because you stopped caring, but the chaos just got louder than your calling. Today, we quiet the noise, not with more doing, but crystal clear decisions. In today's episode, you'll hear three questions, and chances are, in five minutes, you'll have answers.
You'll walk away knowing your top priority. So if you're ready for clarity over chaos, I'm glad you're here because today, we're going to fix that. Welcome to Goals and Grace, the podcast for accomplished women who are ready to align their ambition with faith and step into their highest potential.
I'm Reverend Juliet Spencer, a certified high-performance coach and former pastor, and I'm here to help you break free from imposter syndrome, embrace gratitude, and lead with clarity, purpose, and peace. Each week, I'll share faith-filled encouragement, personal stories, and proven strategies from books like High Performance Habit, as well as from my coaching program, The Purpose and Peace Pathway, to help you achieve success without apology. You'll walk away with tools to lead boldly, live intentionally, and honor the calling on your life.
Let's step into our calling together. Don't forget to follow the podcast and share it with a friend who's ready to grow. Let me give you some relief.
Overwhelm isn't a character flaw. It's a signal. It's your inner life waving a tiny flag.
Too much coming in, not enough chosen on purpose. Most women I coach, they are deeply capable, faithful, high-capacity leaders. They don't lack motivation.
They lack margin. When everything feels urgent, nothing feels anchored. Have you ever tried prioritizing by whoever texts loudest? Spoiler, that never ends well.
Anywho, clarity comes first, before confidence, discipline, habits, or even planning. In other words, clarity is the doorway. Here's the cool part.
Clarity's not just spiritual, it's science. High Performance Research shows energized leaders don't have fewer responsibilities. They have ruthless clarity.
(3:14 - 4:47)
Who they are, what matters, and what gets a hard no. Foggy brain feels awful, doesn't it? You're stuck in constant stress mode. You're scanning everything.
You're second-guessing every decision. And you're reacting like a frantic squirrel on espresso. Believe me, I've done that before.
But here's the gift of clarity. It flips the switch. Your brain conserves energy.
It focuses laser-sharp on what matters. And it releases everything else. Clarity biologically calms overwhelm.
Faith makes it even better. When you're clear on God's calling for your life, urgency loses its grip. Comparison fades away.
Noise can't pull you anymore. You're anchored. Steady.
Let me just say, if you haven't read Brendan Burchard's book, High Performance Habits, I encourage you to do so. I'll have a link in the show notes. It's what started me on this whole path.
Proverbs 3-5-6 hits differently when you're foggy. It reads, Trust God with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding.
(4:48 - 5:48)
In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He'll make your path straight. Notice what this doesn't say? It doesn't say, figure it all out. It doesn't say, try harder.
It just says, trust and acknowledge. Are you feeling lost on God's calling? Well, you're not alone. Clarity doesn't start with a lightning-bolt vision as much as most of us wish that it would.
It starts with surrender. You release control of every outcome. Then you take one prayer, one step.
Jesus echoes this in the Gospel of Matthew 6, verse 34. He says, Don't worry about tomorrow. Today's trouble is enough.
(5:49 - 6:04)
It's not against planning. It's for presence. Clarity lives right here in today's step, not lost in the anxious spiral of trying to solve everything all at once.
(6:04 - 6:35)
And that, my friend, is true freedom. So let's surrender into clarity. Question 1. Who do you want to be this season? Not, What do I want to accomplish? Or, What do others expect? But who? Who do I want to be this season? Calm, Courageous, Present, Faithful, Grounded.
(6:36 - 7:47)
Skip this and you're chasing shiny outcomes that don't match your soul. It's exhausting. Identity always comes first.
I learned this the hard way when I was busy accepting preaching gigs when I needed to be a mom first. Direction follows character. So who do I want to be this season? Question 2. What are my 3 priorities right now? Not 10, not everything, just 3. What are my 3 priorities right now? Health, Leadership, Relationships, Spiritual Rhythms, or One Key Project.
What are my 3 priorities right now? Everything as priority equals nothing as priority. Clarity loves limits. A confession? My 3 used to be 12 until I realized Overwhelmed Organizer isn't a calling.
(7:48 - 10:14)
I'm cracking myself up today. Anywho, Question 3. What's my heck yes versus absolutely not? Did you know that clarity grows when we name the truth? So ask yourself, what energizes and what drains? And what's your most faithful move? Sometimes releasing good things when they don't fit this season is the right thing to do, even though you don't want to. But even Jesus withdrew.
Even Jesus said no. For me, last year, that meant killing a podcast collaboration with someone I really admire. It was a great thing and it sounded like a marvelous idea, but it wasn't my season.
Sometimes we just have to acknowledge that even great things are not meant for us in this season. But even Jesus said no. Even Jesus went away by himself.
I believe with every fiber of my being that Jesus wanted to be available to every single person who needed him at any moment, but he knew better than that. He knew his priorities, he knew his calling, and that meant that even some of the things that he wanted to do, he had to say no. These questions aren't fluffy.
They're the clarity system that high performers use. As I mentioned, Brendan Burchard's book, High Performance Habits, you'll read in there that science proves this. It proves that identity plus ruthless priorities equals 300 times more energy focus and fulfillment.
I hope you'll take a look for yourself because it really did change my life. I've made you a 10-minute clarity sheet and it will walk you through all three questions, but I encourage you to be slow and intentional. This is not intended as a productivity grind, but as something that's sacred and grounding.
The link will also be in the show notes. I encourage you to print it and sit quietly. Make it a God conversation, not a performance review.
(10:16 - 10:55)
In truth, 10 minutes of clarity will save you weeks of overwhelmed. I ought to know because I have been tempted more than once to skip it and man, oh man, did I pay the price. Maybe you can relate.
In any event, trust me when I say that science and even just common sense proves it. When we're clear about what we want, who we are, where we want to go, then overwhelm takes a back seat. We find it easier to say yes and easier to say no.
(10:56 - 13:28)
If you're feeling as though your life needs some untangling, but you don't really know how to do it or could use some help, science supports that as well and I've been there. That's where coaching really shines and it's one of the main reasons I became a coach. It provides weekly space to name what matters and to release the rest.
It gives you an opportunity to align with God's calling that is already in you. Remember, overwhelm is a thief, but as I like to say, clarity leaves it nowhere to hide. And so as you step forward, I hope you will trust this.
Clarity doesn't demand rushing, but it does demand listening. God isn't hiding your next step. God reveals it one honest question at a time.
And if you still can't get a definite answer between choices, I've been there too. Just trust that God is capable and willing to guide you through whichever choice you make. One honest question really does unlock clarity, but let's be honest, you need energy to act on it.
Exhausted achievers burn brightest and then burn out. And so next week, episode 20 will be Energy Mastery, Build Reserves That Last. This will include my four generators, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
I hope that you'll track one week and then upgrade your day with things like my 50-minute reset. I know you don't want to miss it. If this episode has inspired you, don't forget to download my 10-minute clarity sheet.
And if you know someone else who's feeling overwhelmed and could use a little clarity in their lives, then I hope you'll share this podcast with them. Don't forget to follow me on social media. I'd love to hear from you.
Let me know what it is that you would like to hear from me. Oh, and I'm also excited about a slight refresh for next week. Until then, my friend, God bless.
